Web sites I read: Architecture

This is the first in a series where I share some of the web sites that I enjoy reading. The first selection is focused on architecture, a topic I look into for visual inspiration about futuristic landscapes for gaming and fiction.

BLDGBLOG has the taglines: Architectural Conjecture, Urban Speculation, Landscape Futures. Buildings, buildings, buildings. A new book is coming out by the same name (BLDGBLOG), which I’ll definitely be purchasing.

Digital Urban is a bit more utilitarian, with tutorials on 3D building, digital mapping and much more. Digital Urban is written by Dr Andrew Hudson-Smith, who, “is [...] a Senior Research Fellow at CASA and team leader of the Virtual London modelling group.”

Plataforma Arquitectura is not in English, but I discovered this site as a result of an image search. In some cases, I’ll translate an article, but mostly, I read it for the articles pictures!
Update: There is now an English version of Plataforma, called Arch Daily. Thanks guys!

WHERE is a blog about urban places, placemaking and the concept of ‘place’, as its tagline states. Written by Brendan Crain, WHERE is driven by his interest in the urban experience.

Put all of these sites together, and you have a good combination of digital, analog, and conceptual information and tools on architecture, urban design and planning–complete with all the trimmings of some of the most beautiful structures on Earth.
